About the role
Commodity Managers work with Engineering teams to make sure Google has the supplies and equipment to put into production the innovative products coming from our Engineering teams. As a Commodity Manager, you use your wide industry knowledge and strategic supplier relationships to optimize our total cost of ownership for our global -- and growing -- infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Develop long term sourcing strategies for Hard Disk Drives and Tape Storage
- Implement Supply Chain improvements
- Develop and manage master purchase agreements with suppliers
- Conduct high-level discussion and secure comprehensive agreements with supplier executives
- Lead cross-functional teams while growing and maintaining a high level of industry expertise and supplier/market conditions
- Manage supplier relationships and performance in technology alignment, cost, quality, delivery and resiliency
- Interface with engineering for early engagement and roadmap alignment and lead supplier selection for Tape Storage
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a technical or engineering field or equivalent practical experience
- 7 years of experience in procurement and supply chain management
- Experience in Hard Disk Drives and Tape Storage category or commodity management, negotiate agreements and supplier development
